Removals toMunich
Regular scheduled departures from the UK to Munich. We handle the drive, the Transfer of Residence paperwork, the Halteverbotszone permit and the lift into a Schwabing Altbau.
Germany's most expensive city, and its most settled British community
Munich is an engineering and technology move more than a finance one. Automotive, aerospace, insurance and a very large research sector, plus the European Patent Office, draw a steady flow of UK professionals, and a good many of them stay. The British community here is long established rather than transient, and the international schools are a common reason families pick Munich over Berlin.
It is also the most expensive housing market in Germany, which shapes the move in a practical way: flats are smaller than the equivalent budget elsewhere, storage is more often needed on arrival, and people frequently move twice, into something temporary first. We can hold part of a load in storage rather than force everything into the first address.

UK to Munich, step by step
After a quick survey — in person or over video — you get a fixed, itemised quote. Then it runs like this.
We survey and fix the price
Video walkthrough or an in-person visit. One itemised number covering collection, the crossing, customs and delivery, including the furniture lift and parking permit where your building needs them.
We collect, pack and clear customs
Our crew loads at your door. Eurotunnel or ferry, then south-east across Belgium and Germany. Since Brexit you need Transfer of Residence relief and a valued inventory, and we prepare both so nothing stalls at the border.
We deliver into your home
Not to the pavement. We apply for the Halteverbotszone so the lorry can park legally, bring a Moebelaufzug if the stairwell will not take your furniture, and reassemble what we took apart.

What moving into a Munich apartment actually involves
Munich's older districts are handsome and tight. Schwabing, Maxvorstadt, Haidhausen and the Glockenbachviertel are largely turn-of-the-century blocks with narrow entrance halls, a small retrofitted lift if there is one at all, and staircases that will not take a three-seat sofa around the turn. A Moebelaufzug through the window is routine here rather than exceptional, and on upper floors we plan for one from the survey rather than discovering the problem on the day.
Parking is strictly enforced. Most central streets are resident-permit only, so we apply to the Kreisverwaltungsreferat for a Halteverbotszone and have the signs posted in advance; without it the lorry has nowhere legal to stand. Munich also runs an Umweltzone covering everything inside the Mittlerer Ring, requiring a green Umweltplakette. One local quirk worth knowing: during Oktoberfest and the run-up to it, traffic and hotel availability across the centre make delivery slots harder to get, so book early if you are moving in late September.

How much does a removal to Munich from the UK cost?
A removal from the UK to Munich typically costs between £750 and £4,800 depending on the volume you are moving, and takes 3-7 days door to door. A shared part-load is the cheapest way to move a smaller home; a dedicated vehicle is faster and suits a full household.
| Move size | Volume | Typical cost | Door-to-door |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part load | 5-10 m³ | £750 - £1,250 | 3-7 days |
| Studio / 1-bed | 15-20 m³ | £1,100 - £1,650 | 3-7 days |
| 2-bed home | 25-30 m³ | £1,700 - £2,500 | 3-5 days |
| 3-bed home | 35-45 m³ | £2,400 - £3,400 | 3-5 days |
| 4-bed home or larger | 50-65 m³ | £3,300 - £4,800 | 3-5 days |
- Every figure includes loading, the crossing, fuel, tolls and delivery into the room.
- Access affects the price: a parking permit, a lift booking or an external furniture lift are priced at survey, not added on the day.
- Transfer of Residence relief means no duty or VAT on your own household goods when you are moving your main home, and we prepare the paperwork with you.

The cost of a move to Munich varies with more than the number of rooms. What shapes your price:
- The size of your home — a studio, a two-bed flat and a four-bed house are very different volumes to move.
- Access at both ends — stairs, lifts, narrow streets or a long carry all affect the job.
- Packing — full professional packing, fragile items only, or you pack yourself.
- Dedicated lorry or shared part-load — the space and timing your move needs.
- Storage & specialist items — pianos, artwork, or storage either side of the Channel.
