Removals toLisbon
Our longest mainland route and our steepest delivery. Scheduled departures from the UK to Lisbon, with the customs relief, the NIF paperwork and the hill access all planned before we load.
The city that took the largest share of Britain's move south
Lisbon has absorbed more UK arrivals in the last decade than anywhere else in Portugal: remote workers and founders, a growing technology sector, retirees drawn by the climate and the tax treatment, and families who simply wanted more sun and more space than London affords. English is widely spoken, the flights are short and frequent, and the cost of living, while no longer the bargain it was, still compares well.
It is worth being clear-eyed about the move itself though. Lisbon is a very long way by road and it is built on hills, and those two facts shape both the price and the plan more than anything else.

UK to Lisbon, step by step
After a quick survey — in person or over video — you get a fixed, itemised quote. Then it runs like this.
We survey and fix the price
Video walkthrough or an in-person visit. One itemised number covering collection, the crossing, customs and delivery, including the external lift and any shuttle vehicle your street needs.
We collect, pack and clear customs
Our crew loads at your door. We can run down through France and Spain or take the direct ferry to northern Spain and cut a day off the road. Since Brexit you need Transfer of Residence relief, a Portuguese NIF and an inventory, and we prepare the paperwork with you.
We deliver into your home
Not to the end of the street. We arrange the parking permit, bring a lift where the stairs will not take your furniture, and shuttle in with a smaller van where a lorry simply cannot reach.

What moving into a Lisbon apartment actually involves
Lisbon is the hardest access city on our network. The old quarters, Alfama, Mouraria, Bairro Alto and Graca, are built on steep hillsides threaded with calcada, the polished limestone cobble that turns slick in rain, on lanes that are frequently too narrow for a car let alone a lorry, and criss-crossed with tram wires that cap vehicle height. In much of that area a full-size vehicle simply cannot reach the door, so we park legally at the nearest viable point and shuttle in with a small van, sometimes across several trips. It is slower, it is priced in, and there is no way around it.
The buildings themselves are old, often without a lift, with tight winding staircases that will not take a wardrobe or a sofa. Where there is a window and a street wide enough to site one we use an external lift. We also apply for the parking reservation through the Camara Municipal or the local Junta de Freguesia, and the city operates a reduced-emissions zone in the centre that our vehicles comply with. Out in Parque das Nacoes, Cascais and the newer suburbs it becomes an ordinary lift-and-loading-bay job.

How much does a removal to Lisbon from the UK cost?
A removal from the UK to Lisbon typically costs between £950 and £5,900 depending on the volume you are moving, and takes 6-10 days door to door. A shared part-load is the cheapest way to move a smaller home; a dedicated vehicle is faster and suits a full household.
| Move size | Volume | Typical cost | Door-to-door |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part load | 5-10 m³ | £950 - £1,500 | 6-10 days |
| Studio / 1-bed | 15-20 m³ | £1,400 - £2,050 | 6-10 days |
| 2-bed home | 25-30 m³ | £2,100 - £3,100 | 5-8 days |
| 3-bed home | 35-45 m³ | £3,000 - £4,300 | 5-8 days |
| 4-bed home or larger | 50-65 m³ | £4,100 - £5,900 | 5-8 days |
- Every figure includes loading, the crossing, fuel, tolls and delivery into the room.
- Access affects the price: a parking permit, a lift booking or an external furniture lift are priced at survey, not added on the day.
- Transfer of Residence relief means no duty or VAT on your own household goods when you are moving your main home, and we prepare the paperwork with you.

The cost of a move to Lisbon varies with more than the number of rooms. What shapes your price:
- The size of your home — a studio, a two-bed flat and a four-bed house are very different volumes to move.
- Access at both ends — stairs, lifts, narrow streets or a long carry all affect the job.
- Packing — full professional packing, fragile items only, or you pack yourself.
- Dedicated lorry or shared part-load — the space and timing your move needs.
- Storage & specialist items — pianos, artwork, or storage either side of the Channel.
