Man and Van toMarseille
A studio, a single room or a few pieces of furniture heading to Marseille. We carry part-loads on a shared vehicle, so a small move is priced on the space it uses rather than on a lorry travelling 1,070 km half empty.
Far enough south that a part-load is the only sensible option
Marseille is around 1,070 km from London and the better part of a full day of driving beyond Lyon. On a route that length a dedicated vehicle has to be paid for whether it is full or not, so sending three or four cubic metres in a lorry of its own is close to indefensible. A shared van solves it: several customers loads travel together and each pays for the volume they actually occupy.
The city itself sends us a particular kind of job. Marseille has a large student population, a working port and a growing number of remote workers and second-home owners drawn by the coast. Those are mostly one-person moves, flat contents and staged furnishings rather than four-bedroom households, which is exactly the shape of load this service is built for.

UK to Marseille, step by step
After a quick survey — in person or over video — you get a fixed, itemised quote. Then it runs like this.
We price it by the space you use
Send a short video walkthrough of what is going. We measure the volume and check the access at both ends, then give you one fixed figure covering collection, the crossing, customs and delivery.
We collect and clear customs
Our crew loads at your door and your goods travel on a shared vehicle with other loads heading the same way. We prepare the Transfer of Residence relief and the valued inventory so nothing is held at the border.
We deliver into the room
Not to the pavement. We carry in, place where you want it and reassemble what we took apart. Where the stairwell will not take a piece we tell you at quote stage, not on the day.

Getting a van to your door in Marseille
Marseille operates a low-emission zone covering the central districts, so vehicles need a valid Crit-Air sticker to enter. Ours carry one. The harder constraint is the old town. Le Panier, the quarter rising behind the Vieux-Port, is a grid of steep, narrow, partly stepped lanes where a large vehicle simply cannot go and even a van often cannot reach the door. We identify the nearest legal standing point in advance and price the carry into the quote rather than adding it on the day.
Two local details are worth knowing. The mistral, the strong northerly wind that funnels down the Rhone valley, can make handling a high-sided vehicle genuinely difficult and occasionally shifts a delivery by a day, particularly in winter and spring. And much of the residential city is mid-century apartment blocks with small lifts that will take boxes but not a sofa, so we ask for the lift dimensions and the floor before quoting. Districts further out, and the newer developments around Euromediterranee, are considerably easier and a van can usually get to the entrance.
Official sources: gov.uk guidance on living in France, French customs, douane.gouv.fr for import formalities, and the Crit-Air certificate service. Local access rules are published by the City of Marseille.
What a man-and-van load to Marseille usually looks like
What we carryStudio and one-bedroom contents
Bed, sofa, table and boxes, typically three to six cubic metres. The most common job on this route.
Student and academic moves
Desk, bed, books, bike and clothes, usually timed around the academic year.
Furnishing a coastal flat in stages
Second homes furnished across successive runs rather than in one delivery, which spreads both cost and effort.
A few large or valuable pieces
Furniture, instruments or artwork too awkward for a courier and far too small to justify a lorry.
Small office and business stock
Desks, screens and stock for a small company setting up or closing a Marseille presence.
Every quote is built around your home, not a price list.
The cost of a move to Marseille varies with more than the number of rooms. What shapes your price:
- The size of your home — a studio, a two-bed flat and a four-bed house are very different volumes to move.
- Access at both ends — stairs, lifts, narrow streets or a long carry all affect the job.
- Packing — full professional packing, fragile items only, or you pack yourself.
- Dedicated lorry or shared part-load — the space and timing your move needs.
- Storage & specialist items — pianos, artwork, or storage either side of the Channel.
