Removals toCentral Portugal
Scheduled departures from the UK to central Portugal, covering Coimbra, Tomar, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Serta and the villages of the interior. The access, not the distance, is what needs planning here.
Where the money goes furthest, and the lorry gets closest to its limits
The interior between Coimbra and Castelo Branco has drawn a particular kind of UK mover for the last fifteen years: people buying land as much as a house, often a quinta or a village property with olives, cork or a few hectares, at prices that would not buy a garage in the south-east of England. Coimbra adds a university city with a serious medical and research sector, and Tomar and Leiria sit between the two worlds.
It is a genuine relocation rather than a lifestyle purchase for most people here, which means full households, and often tools, workshop equipment and garden machinery that a standard estimate misses. Tell us about the outbuildings at survey.

UK to Central Portugal, step by step
After a quick survey — in person or over video — you get a fixed, itemised quote. Then it runs like this.
We survey and fix the price
Video walkthrough or an in-person visit. One itemised number covering collection, the crossing, customs and delivery, including any shuttle vehicle or resort access your property needs.
We collect, pack and clear customs
Our crew loads at your door. We can run down through France and Spain or take the direct ferry to northern Spain and cut a day off the road. Since Brexit you need Transfer of Residence relief, a Portuguese NIF and an inventory, and we prepare the paperwork with you.
We deliver into your home
Not to the end of the track. We clear resort security in advance where it applies, and where the final approach is too tight for a lorry we shuttle in with a smaller van.

What moving into rural central Portugal actually involves
This is the one part of our network where the last mile is genuinely the hard part. Village properties are reached by lanes built for a cart, with stone walls on both sides, blind hairpins on the approach and gateways narrower than the vehicle. Rural tracks are frequently unmade, soft after rain, and overhung by branches that will not clear a high-sided lorry. We routinely stand the lorry in the village square or at the nearest metalled road and shuttle in with a small van, sometimes over several runs.
What that means in practice is that the survey matters more here than anywhere else we go. Send photographs or a video of the final approach, the gateway and the turning space, not just the house. Satellite navigation is unreliable in the interior and rural addresses are often imprecise, so we ask for a pinned location and a mobile number for the day. Get that right and it is a smooth delivery; get it wrong and a lorry is stuck on a hillside track with nowhere to turn.

How much does a removal to Central Portugal from the UK cost?
A removal from the UK to Central Portugal typically costs between £950 and £5,900 depending on the volume you are moving, and takes 6-10 days door to door. A shared part-load is the cheapest way to move a smaller home; a dedicated vehicle is faster and suits a full household.
| Move size | Volume | Typical cost | Door-to-door |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part load | 5-10 m³ | £950 - £1,500 | 6-10 days |
| Studio / 1-bed | 15-20 m³ | £1,400 - £2,050 | 6-10 days |
| 2-bed home | 25-30 m³ | £2,100 - £3,100 | 5-8 days |
| 3-bed home | 35-45 m³ | £3,000 - £4,300 | 5-8 days |
| 4-bed home or larger | 50-65 m³ | £4,100 - £5,900 | 5-8 days |
- Every figure includes loading, the crossing, fuel, tolls and delivery into the room.
- Access affects the price: a parking permit, a lift booking or an external furniture lift are priced at survey, not added on the day.
- Transfer of Residence relief means no duty or VAT on your own household goods when you are moving your main home, and we prepare the paperwork with you.

The cost of a move to Central Portugal varies with more than the number of rooms. What shapes your price:
- The size of your home — a studio, a two-bed flat and a four-bed house are very different volumes to move.
- Access at both ends — stairs, lifts, narrow streets or a long carry all affect the job.
- Packing — full professional packing, fragile items only, or you pack yourself.
- Dedicated lorry or shared part-load — the space and timing your move needs.
- Storage & specialist items — pianos, artwork, or storage either side of the Channel.
