Why Frankfurt

The move that follows the job

Frankfurt is the most corporate move we run. A great deal of it followed the banks after Brexit, and it still arrives that way: a start date, a relocation allowance, a serviced flat for the first month and a permanent address found later. The city is compact, heavily international, and the shortest German drive from the UK, which is why it is often the first move people make into the country rather than the last.

Because so much of it is employer-led, timing is usually fixed and inflexible. Tell us the date you need to be in and we will work backwards from it, including the survey, the customs paperwork and the building slot.

Frankfurt — everyday life

How the move works

UK to Frankfurt, step by step

After a quick survey — in person or over video — you get a fixed, itemised quote. Then it runs like this.

01

We survey and fix the price

Video walkthrough or an in-person visit. One itemised number covering collection, the crossing, customs and delivery, including the furniture lift and parking permit where your building needs them.

02

We collect, pack and clear customs

Our crew loads at your door. Eurotunnel or ferry, then north through Belgium. Since Brexit you need Transfer of Residence relief and a valued inventory to bring belongings in duty free, and we prepare both so nothing stalls at the border.

03

We deliver into your home

Not to the pavement. We apply for the Halteverbotszone so the lorry can park legally, bring a Moebelaufzug if the stairwell will not take your furniture, and reassemble what we took apart.

What moving into a Frankfurt apartment actually involves

Frankfurt splits into two quite different deliveries. In the modern towers around the Bankenviertel and the Europaviertel there is usually a service lift and a loading bay, but you cannot just turn up: the building manager books the lift in slots, often only on weekdays and sometimes for a fixed two-hour window, and a padded lift protects the finishes. We arrange that booking in advance because a missed slot can mean waiting a day.

The Altbau streets of Nordend, Westend and Bornheim are the opposite problem. Narrow entrance halls, a small retrofitted lift that will not take a sofa, and residential parking on both sides of the street. There we apply for a Halteverbotszone to hold the kerb and bring a Moebelaufzug if the staircase will not take the load. Frankfurt also runs an Umweltzone over the whole city area, so vehicles carry a green Umweltplakette.

What it costs

How much does a removal to Frankfurt from the UK cost?

A removal from the UK to Frankfurt typically costs between £750 and £4,800 depending on the volume you are moving, and takes 3-7 days door to door. A shared part-load is the cheapest way to move a smaller home; a dedicated vehicle is faster and suits a full household.

4-bed home or larger50-65 m³£3,300 - £4,8003-5 days
  • Every figure includes loading, the crossing, fuel, tolls and delivery into the room.
  • Access affects the price: a parking permit, a lift booking or an external furniture lift are priced at survey, not added on the day.
  • Transfer of Residence relief means no duty or VAT on your own household goods when you are moving your main home, and we prepare the paperwork with you.

The table above is a guide. Your exact price comes from a free survey.

The cost of a move to Frankfurt varies with more than the number of rooms. What shapes your price:

  • The size of your home — a studio, a two-bed flat and a four-bed house are very different volumes to move.
  • Access at both ends — stairs, lifts, narrow streets or a long carry all affect the job.
  • Packing — full professional packing, fragile items only, or you pack yourself.
  • Dedicated lorry or shared part-load — the space and timing your move needs.
  • Storage & specialist items — pianos, artwork, or storage either side of the Channel.

Frankfurt move FAQs

Questions people ask us about this route

How much does a removal from the UK to Frankfurt cost?
Typically between £750 for a small shared part-load and £4,800 for a large four-bed household. The exact figure depends on volume, access at both ends and whether you take a dedicated vehicle or share one. A free survey gives you one fixed, itemised price.
How long does a removal from the UK to Frankfurt take?
Three to five days door to door for a dedicated load. Frankfurt is roughly 480 miles from London, the shortest of our German routes, and the drive from Calais through Belgium takes about seven hours. Part-loads run on our scheduled German service.
Do I need customs paperwork to move to Germany after Brexit?
Yes. Most people relocating their main home qualify for Transfer of Residence relief, which removes import duty and VAT provided the goods have been owned six months and are imported within twelve months of the move. A valued inventory is required. We prepare both with you.
Can you deliver into an apartment tower in the Bankenviertel?
Yes, and we book it properly. Most Frankfurt towers require the service lift to be reserved through the building manager, often in a fixed weekday window with lift padding fitted. We arrange the slot before the truck leaves the UK.
Do you arrange the parking permit?
Yes. For street-level addresses we apply for a Halteverbotszone, the temporary no-parking zone that reserves kerb space for the lorry. It needs advance notice, which is why an early confirmed date matters.
Can you move a part load to Frankfurt?
Yes, and it suits Frankfurt particularly well. A lot of relocations here start with one or two rooms while a permanent flat is found. You pay for the space you use on our scheduled run rather than a whole vehicle.
