FRANCE REMOVAL COSTS

How much does a removal to France cost?

A UK to France removal costs between £650 and £4,500 for most households. Here’s exactly what drives that figure and what you should watch out for in a quote.

Price by load size

The single biggest factor in the cost of a France removal is volume — how many cubic metres of belongings you’re moving. Everything else (distance, access, packing) adjusts around that core figure.

Load size Volume Typical price
Part load 5–10m³ £650 – £1,200
Studio / 1-bed 15–20m³ £950 – £1,550
2-bed home 25–30m³ £1,500 – £2,350
3-bed home 35–45m³ £2,100 – £3,200
4-bed home or larger 50–65m³ £2,900 – £4,500

Paris sits at the lower end of these ranges (shorter distance). The Dordogne and Provence sit at the upper end.

What else affects the price

Packing. Full packing adds 15–25% to the total. Fragile-only packing is considerably less. Self-packing costs nothing but shifts the liability — items packed by you aren’t covered under goods-in-transit insurance for breakage.

Access at delivery. A Paris apartment in a Haussmann building needing a transfer van for the final leg costs more than a house in Brittany with lorry-width road access and a driveway. We assess both ends when we survey.

Storage. If your French property isn’t ready on the same day as your UK collection, storage in the UK or France adds to the total. Short-term (one to four weeks) is priced differently from long-term.

Part-load vs dedicated vehicle. A part-load shares the truck with other consignments heading the same direction. It costs less but takes longer — typically two to four days more than a dedicated run. For time-critical moves, a dedicated vehicle travels direct.

What a quote should include

A properly structured removal quote for France should cover: collection and loading in the UK, the Channel crossing, customs clearance and documentation, delivery to your French address, and goods-in-transit insurance. If any of those are listed as extras or not mentioned at all, the headline price will be lower than the final invoice.

We survey every move before quoting — video or in-person — so the price is based on your actual volume rather than a bedroom count. The figure we agree after survey is the figure on your invoice. See the full France guide or call 020 3150 2668 for a quote.
